Grandma and Grandpa Milner

"He is my pillar you know."
Were any of us really ever that little?  The funniest part is that I remember sleeping in these things when I was 8 and 9, maybe even older.  I also remember how uncomfortable it was.  And yet the fighting to get to go to the hotel with G&G, horrible!  One time Grandma even tried to convince me that I was too big for a chair bed anymore.  Oh boy I showed her.  I think my neck is still kinked from that one.  My legs never did regain full circulation either.  It was sure worth it though :)
Ahhh, nothing like a chair bed
I like his silver hair Mom."

"I like your beautiful necklace with all the beautiful colors"

"These tools are awesome!"
"Grandma Fisher is so pretty." Zack followed by an emphatic "yeah" from Jake and "She is so beautiful.  I love her."  from Ellie

Who doesn't love a good nose tweak?
Is it real?  is it going to come eat me?

"Love it turtle mommy.  Kiss it turtle mommy?  Aw cute turtle.  Hold it mommy?"

It was so great to visit Grandma and Grandpa Milner on our way to WI.  The last time we were able to see them was on our way through to Utah for the great cabin/snowmobiling adventure. Ellie was 7 months, now she's 4, my how time flies.  The boys remember that visit so well, it's amazing.  They would talk about it quite frequently, most memorable being the sound of the clock.  They would imitate it and as Ellie got older it became "Great Grandma and Grandpa Milner's princess clock.  Because it's sounds just like the clock that chimes for Cinderella at the ball" out of the mouth of brothers who care enough to find princess ties to everything they can for their sister.  How fun.

So we saw and heard the clock. Looked at things mommy (me) made when she was little.  Saw "ancient artifacts" in the basement (too funny!).  Ate cookies from the cookie jars.  Played pass with Grandpa on the table with fun cereal toys saved lovingly by two wonderful cereal addicts. Listened to fun stories; hotel chair beds when we were kids, fights to see who would be lucky enough to cram him/herself into one of the coveted chair beds, "heavy dog" from my younger and more profound days, and many more.  Climbed and climbed the rock wall almost sending Grandma and a neighbor to the hospital with anxiety attacks.  Checked out the birdbath, cardinal nest, and wonderfully memorable landscaping by the king of all green thumbs.  Got treated to where else but Mickey D's for dinner and dessert.  Had an after dinner concert by Jake. And of course, had a soda.

Mean mommy tried to make them wait until later but upon Addie's insistence they guzzled them up as we said our goodbyes in the driveway - can you say emergent potty break not too far down the road.

I have no idea what my childhood would have been like without the countless memories these two created.  From winters with vehicles stuffed so full with Christmas gifts you wondered where the Grandparents sat, to summers full of Green River WY watermelon and brisket. What would we have done without G&G Milner?  So very glad we got to visit and create so many more memories that my children can now hold onto.  We love you Grandma and Grandpa Milner. When are you coming to visit us in WI? :)
